ABOUT: The
Rewilding Foundation

Our wildlands are disappearing at an alarming rate. Suburbs, farmland, and other development are swallowing it up. With it goes the magnificent wildlife it supports. We have to stop this.

MISSION & HISTORY.

Founded in 2022, The Rewilding Foundation exists to fight the rapid pace of habitat and biodiversity loss that has become commonplace in our world. Namely, we believe maintaining and restoring our megafauna, large animals that play an outsized role in maintaining the health of ecosystems, is critical to frustrating environmental loss—and to see once-lost biodiversity return to our wildlands.

Bringing these titans of nature back to our rural areas is the keystone of a cutting-edge ecological philosophy: rewilding.

Mainstream conservation is ineffective at slowing the loss of nature because it focuses on superficial and temporary solutions rather than getting at the root of the problem. We believe the root is the modern world's extractive relationship with nature—one that proceeds, and is the direct result of, hundreds of years of colonization and lost indigenous stewardship.

The Rewilding Foundation exists to fill a critical gap in ecological education that exists in our modern discourse.

OUR MISSION is to increase the amount of land under conservation, ambitiously advocate for the reintroduction of keystone species—big and small—and fight for the right of indigenous and local stewardship of wildlands.

Advocacy is our greatest strength—changing minds is one of the most powerful things we can accomplish. Our strength is in numbers.
